I saw this card last year at a store, and I couldn’t help but pick it up. It celebrated everything that this website stands for: excess crap! I also couldn’t help but notice that most of what was pictured in the garage, was what we had originally stored in ours… right down to the Volvo (albeit a different model).

Be honest now, how many of these items do you have sitting unused in your garage?
- Children’s toys
- Pet carriers
- Stereo speakers/equipment
- Musical instruments
- Skis, boots, & poles
- Christmas door wreaths
- Bicycle helmets
- Car tires
- Bicycles
- Sports equipment like balls, gloves, racquets, clubs, bats, etc, etc.
- Large pieces of furnature
- Mannequins
- Coolers
- Skateboards (OK, we didn’t have any of these, but we do have a unicycle)
- Outdated globe
- Rolls of carpet remnants
- Trophies
- Uninsured car (in our case, it really was a Volvo)
- A Barbie doll or 2. (My Malibu Barbie and Ken are in the Custom Camper, not in a Jeep.)
- Milk crates filled with crap.
- Plastic tubs filled with even more crap!
It took us about 6 months, but our garage doesn’t look quite this bad anymore. Both our Volvos can now park in the garage. Much of our crap has been taken to the various thrift shops or thrown out. The crap that we’ve chosen to keep, is stored in shelving both inside the garage and the house.
It still looks like a dog’s breakfast in some rooms where the unpacking isn’t finished from our move, but at least it doesn’t look like an episode of Horders anymore… I hope.
